En lugar preferente
Commissioned project
2015-2017
En lugar preferente refers to the first three words of the royal decree 85.2, which forces Spanish town halls to showcase a portrait of the King in their plenary rooms. The project collectsdepictions of these State portraits of Felipe VI, questioning the validity of the personality cult constructed by this instrumentalisation of physical images, the impact of official pomp as a political tool and the legitimacy of building an image which celebrates the chasm between a powerful minority and an impotent majority using public money.
